Facilities & Infrastructure
The department is provided with two Labs – General chemistry Lab & Instrumentation Lab and one staff room. Both Labs are spacious and planned and equipped with necessary glassware, chemicals and equipments as per VTU syllabus.
Core Competence
The Department's strength lies in following areas of competence.

- Separation of liquids by pervaporation
- Biodiesel from non-edible oils
Teaching - Learning process
- Teaching for the entire semester for a subject is planned meticulously and implemented using lesson plan
- Difficult topics and problems are discussed in tutorials. More attention is on weaker students
- Subject-wise assignments and study guides are given to students to solve and enrich their knowledge
Extra classes are conducted in the identified subjects for weak students
Industry - Institution Interaction
Presently, the department is collaborating with University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore in biodiesel production. Efforts will be made to establish Industry-Institution interactions in near future.
Workshop/Seminar/Conference attended
Department encourages faculty to attend conferences, workshops and seminars in order to upgrade his/her knowledge. It will help to improve upon subject understanding, teaching skills and recent trends in the subject.
- Dr. Shrikant S. Joshi participated in a two-day National Workshop on ’Advances in Chemical Sciences‘ conducted on 22nd and 23rd held at Sri Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain College of Engineering, Ramanagar
- Dr. Ramachandra P., participated in a National Seminar on ‘Recent Trends in Polymer & Conducting Polymer’ conducted from 22nd to 25th November, 2009 at R.V. College of Engineering, Bangalore
- Dr. Ramachandra P. participated in a National Seminar on ‘Polymer Composites’ conducted from 8th to 10th August, 2009 at R.V. College of Engineering, Bangalore
