To make the department a centre of excellence  for training undergraduate students. To promote involvement of staff and students in research and advanced training. To develop good understanding skills in student communities about Civil Engineering, ethical practices, automation design  and society need centric teaching and learning and imparting value addition skills.

To produce young engineers  of caliber, who would be committed to their profession with ethics will be able to contribute to Civil Engineering and allied fields in optimizing usage of resources  globally, making the world more eco friendly to line-in.

INTRODUCTION OF THE DEPARTMENT

The department was established in the year 2010 with an aim of developing human resources in the area of Civil Engineering. The department offers under graduate (UG).  There are about 8 laboratories catering to the development of  Civil Engineering  catering for experiments and Research.  The department faculty are involved in organization of workshops/conferences for constant up gradation of skills and knowledge. The faculties have contributed in research publishing  papers in journals/conferences. The  other important features of the department are: department library, individual counseling of students for academic performance, additional coaching classes for important subjects, theme based mini projects at lower semesters, soft skill development classes, scientific and student centered teaching-learning process and providing.

About Civil Engineering

Civil engineering is the broadest of the engineering fields. Civil engineering focuses on the infrastructure of the world which include Water works, Sewers, Dams, Power Plants, Transmission Towers/Lines, Railroads, Highways, Bridges, Tunnels, Irrigation Canals, River Navigation, Shipping Canals, Traffic Control, Mass Transit, Airport Runways, Terminals, Industrial Plant Buildings, Skyscrapers, etc. Among the important subdivisions of the field are construction engineering, irrigation engineering, transportation engineering, soils and foundation engineering, geodetic engineering, hydraulic engineering, and coastal and ocean engineering.

Civil engineers build the world’s infrastructure. In doing so, they quietly shape the history of nations around the world. Most people can not imagine life without the many contributions of civil engineers to the public’s health, safety and standard of living. Only by exploring civil engineering’s influence in shaping the world we know today, can we creatively envision the progress of our tomorrows.

Careers

There is no one typical career path for civil engineers. Most people who graduate with civil engineering degrees start with jobs that require a low level of responsibility, and as the new engineers prove their competence, they are trusted with tasks that have larger consequences and require a higher level of responsibility. However, within each branch of civil engineering career path options vary. In some fields and firms, entry-level engineers are put to work primarily monitoring construction in the field, serving as the "eyes and ears" of senior design engineers; while in other areas, entry-level engineers perform the more routine tasks of analysis or design and interpretation. Experienced engineers generally do more complex analysis or design work, or management of more complex design projects, or management of other engineers, or into specialized consulting, including forensic engineering.

FACILITIES AND INFRASTRUCTURE

The department is constantly modernizing the infrastructure and laboratory facilities. The department is equipped with class rooms, laboratory halls, staff rooms, departmental library etc. The department is also equipped with modern teaching aids like LCD’s, OHP, smart boards etc.

 Campus Network

The Institute and Department are well connected through a Campus Network and have an access to Internet at data rate of 4 Mbps. All the machines in the Laboratories are connected to campus network.
