The department offers under graduate (UG) and post graduate (PG) courses along with research programmes. It has experienced and qualified faculty (about 25) in various areas such as communications, VLSI, signal processing, embedded systems and computer engineering. There are about 7 laboratories catering to the development of experiments and projects in the aforementioned programmes.

The department has state of art computing facilities and softwares to keep the students in pace with the technology. Department’s association, FORCE (Forum of Reva Communication and Electronics), has been set up to conduct various extra curricular and co-curricular activities to build overall personality of the students. IEEE student branch opening and activities are initiated by the department.

The department faculty are involved in organization of workshops/conferences for constant up gradation of skills and knowledge. The faculties have contributed in research publishing about 200 papers in journals/conferences. The  other important features of the department are: department library, individual counseling of students for academic performance, additional coaching classes for important subjects, theme based mini projects at lower semesters, soft skill development classes, scientific and student centered teaching-learning process and providing browsing facilities after working hours.

TEACHING - LEARNING PROCESS

  • Teaching for the entire semester for a subject is planned meticulously and implemented using lesson plan.
  • The internal assessment and conduction of Co-curricular and extra curricular activities are planned and scheduled for the semester in advance. This is communicated to faculty and students as 'Calendar of Events' which helps them to plan their studies and other activities properly.
  • Teaching aids include black board, OHP, Power point presentation using LCD.
  • Regular Tutorial classes are used to discuss and solve numerical problems and assist them to apply knowledge to real-time problems.
  • Subject-wise assignments and study guides are given to students to solve and enrich their knowledge.
  • Extra classes are conducted in the identified subjects for weak students.
  • For value addition, other than university- prescribed syllabus, student training programmes are conducted within the campus.
  • Regular seminars are conducted in most of the subjects prescribed apart from classroom teaching which improves their presentation skills & also better understanding of the subject.
  • Teaching is made student centric by getting regular (every fortnight) feed back from the students.

Faculty undergoes self appraisal in order to improve teaching skills and up grade in subject knowledge.

STUDENT COUNSELING

A student counseling mechanism is setup in the Department in order to understand the problems of students both academic and personal. One faculty advisor for every 15 students is allocated, who is responsible for conducting regular meeting with students to get suggestions for improvements in academic and Laboratory facilities. The information obtained from students through faculty advisors is utilized to enhance the quality of academics and laboratories and also solve personal problems of the students. Faculty advisor sends the progress of a student to the parents for information and guidance every month.

PLACEMENT

Department supports training and placement cell of Institute to conduct programmes on latest technologies, Personality Development and training for competitive exams. Students of the department are placed in reputed companies such as L & T, Infosys Technologies, Perot systems, Nano Cell, Pagul Guy dot Com, Cambridge solution Mphasis, Tech Mahindra, N.R. switch Radio services, Scorpos Corp, Assurgent Technology Solution etc. 90% of the eligible students are placed in the campus interviews. Students are also encouraged to pursue Master’s and Research Programmes. In this direction, students are advised to take up GATE, GRE and TOFEL exams. 5% of the students have already enrolled for higher studies in India and abroad.

RESULTS
