Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering

The department has a recognized research center affiliated to VTU, Belgaum. It offers MS and Ph.D programmes. The areas of research focused are  as follows. Mobile ad hoc networks, Wireless sensor networks, Grid Computing, Vehicle ad hoc networks, Signal processing, Image processing, Embedded systems development using PSOC and MSP 430, VLSI and  E-Commerce.

Labs set up under research programmes are as follows. (1) Cypress PSOC lab in association with Cypress semiconductors, Bangalore, (2)  Texas microcontrollers lab in association with Cranes software International, Bangalore, (3) Wireless sensor network lab using imote sensors sponsored by VTU, Belgaum. These labs facilitate UG/PG and Ph.D students to carry out research and development  activities.

The department in association with allied departments received several grants (Approx. Rs. 4.00 lakhs) from AICTE New Delhi, ISTE New Delhi, VTU Belgaum, CSIR New Delhi and other industries to conduct the conferences, symposia and workshops in the emerging areas of research.

Some of the faculty like Dr. S. S. Manvi and Mr. H.S. Aravinda received Travel grants from AICTE New Delhi to attend International Conferences at  Malaysia and Las Vegas, respectively.

Faculty of the department have published around more than 200 research papers in various journals and conferences at both national and international levels. In recent two academic years, 2008-2009 and 2009-2010, faculty have published around 80 research papers.
