Short Term Vision
- To encourage staff to acquire skills to implement novel teaching methods that encourage critical thinking, self learning, group discussions and self appraisals.
- To encourage students to take part in paper presentation contests.
- To encourage students to carry out mini projects to strengthen their fundamentals.
- To setup high quality research lab in the department.
Long Term Vision
- To establish industry-university alliance to set up research lab.
- To carry out applied research work and to attract consultancy works.
- To initiate students exchange program with overseas universities.
- To initiate summer industrial training program for students.
- To make the EEE department the preferred department for students.
INTRODUCTION OF THE DEPARTMENT
The department was established in the year 2004 with an aim of developing human resources in the area of Electrical & Electronics Engineering. The department offers under graduate (UG) course. It has experienced and qualified 15 faculty in various areas such as power systems, power electronics, signal processing, industrial drives, energy systems etc. There are 5 laboratories catering to the development of experiments and projects. The department has state of art computing facilities and softwares to keep the students in pace with the technology. Department’s association ’ELITE’ ( Electrical Insight in Technical Endeavour) has been set up to conduct various extra curricular and co-curricular activities to develop overall personality of the students.
The faculty have contributed in research publishing about 25 papers in journals/conferences. The other important features of the department are individual counseling of students for academic performance, additional coaching classes for important subjects for lower semesters, soft skill development classes, scientific and student centered teaching-learning process etc.

FACILITIES AND INFRASTRUCTURE
The department is constantly modernizing the infrastructure and laboratory facilities. The department is equipped with five class rooms, five laboratory halls, two staff rooms, departmental library etc. Total carpet area of the department is about 1400 sq. mtrs. Campus Network
The Institute and Department are well connected through a Campus Network and have an access to Internet at data rate of 4 Mbps. All the machines in the Laboratories are connected to campus network.
HUMAN RESOURCES
Department has well qualified and experienced faculty with an average teaching experience of around 12 years. Some of the faculty members have registered for Ph.D in the areas of power electronics, signal processing, mining illumination etc. There are well qualified technical staff members, who maintain the various laboratories and are responsible for smooth conduction and maintenance of laboratories.

DEPARTMENT ASSOCIATION (ELITE)
The ’ELITE’ ( Electrical Insight in Technical Endeavour) is the association of the students of electrical &electronics engineering department whose main objective is to build up appropriate moral ðical skills, promote holistic development of students through various physical, mental, social, cultural, & personal enrichment programmes. The association organizes different types of extra curricular activities and co-curricular activities like invited talks by people from industry and academic institutions.
Recent activities conducted by ELITE
- Seminar on ‘Software Industry – An Overview’ was delivered by Mr. Vijayananda Gurudev Symphony Technologies, Bangalore on 13th Sept 2008.
- Conducted a Group Discussion on ‘Reservation for Women’ on 29th Dec, 2009.
- Conducted an inter department quiz competition for the college students.
- Seminar on ‘Embedded Systems’ was delivered by Dr. Loganathan, ISM Bangalore on 3rd April, 2009.
- An ‘Energy Awareness Program’ was organized on 28th Feb, 2009. In this program a collage debate competition were organized.
- Organized inter department cricket tournament for boys and throw ball tournament for girls on 6th and 7th Oct, 2009.
- A seminar was conducted on Importance & Application of SCADA by Mrs.Meenakshi under the banner of ELITE.
TEACHING - LEARNING PROCESS
- Teaching for the entire semester for a subject is planned meticulously and implemented using lesson plan.
- The internal assessment and conduction of Co-curricular and extra curricular activities are planned and scheduled for the semester in advance. This is communicated to faculty and students as 'Calendar of Events' which helps them to plan their studies and other activities properly.
- Teaching aids include black board, OHP, Power point presentation using LCD.
- Regular Tutorial classes are used to discuss and solve numerical problems and assist them to apply knowledge to real-time problems.
- Subject-wise assignments and study guides are given to students to solve and enrich their knowledge.
- Extra classes are conducted in the identified subjects for weak students.
- For value addition, other than university- prescribed syllabus, student training programmes are conducted within the campus.
- Regular seminars are conducted in most of the subjects prescribed apart from classroom teaching which improves their presentation skills & also better understanding of the subject.
- Teaching is made student centric by getting regular (every fortnight) feed back from the students.
Faculty undergoes self appraisal in order to improve teaching skills and up grade in subject knowledge.
STUDENT COUNSELING
A student counseling mechanism is setup in the department in order to understand the problems of students both academic and personal. One faculty advisor for every 15 students is allocated, who is responsible for conducting regular meeting with students to get suggestions for improvements in academic and Laboratory facilities. The information obtained from students through faculty advisors is utilized to enhance the quality of academics and laboratories and also solve personal problems of the students. Faculty advisor sends the progress of a student to the parents for information and guidance every month.
PLACEMENT
Department supports training and placement cell of Institute to conduct programmes on latest technologies, personality development and training for competitive exams. Students of the department are placed in reputed companies such as Infosys Technologies, KPTCL, PRDC, Wipro, Mphasis, Tech Mahindra, N.R. switch Radio services, Scorpos Corp, Assurgent Technology Solution etc. . Students are also encouraged to pursue Master’s and Research Programmes. In this direction, students are advised to take up GATE, GRE and TOFEL exams.
